A WELCOME FROM OUR PASTOR, DEAN SNYDER Dean Snyder

Dear Friends,

Foundry Church is committed to being welcoming, inclusive, affirming and empowering! We want you to get to know us and to feel welcome to join in our efforts to make the world more just, more loving, more spiritual, more beautiful, and more fun.

We value worship. We open ourselves to the Spirit of God through prayer, praise, and engagement with Scripture. We sing with all our heart, mind and strength. We value and expect nurturing, intellectually stimulating, and honest preaching from our pulpit.

We value mission. Dozens of groups work to serve the needs of our neighborhood as well as the global community. From our Walk-in Mission where each week dozens of despairing persons find help, to our Volunteers in Mission who travel around the world, to our outreach to local day laborers, we are deeply committed to mission. We are committed to ministries of both caring and change.

We value openness. All are included and validated. We are a community that seeks to embrace all God’s people – young and older, children and youth, all ethnicities and languages, those who are single and those who are married or partnered, those with children living at home and without, straight and gay, persons with special needs, everyone. God keeps stretching us to open our hearts, minds, and doors wider and wider, and every time we do, we are enriched.

We value lifelong learning and spiritual growth, Bible study, mutual support, and caring. I am moved by the way our cancer survivor group members reach out to those touched by this disease with great sensitivity and understanding. I am humbled by the powerful pastoral care that happens in small group settings often without the benefit of clergy. Caring relationships like these within our congregation sustain our life of worship and healing.

We value good administration of our life together. We respond to the call for good stewardship of our resources. We are also part of the larger United Methodist Church with its 30,000 congregations and 10 million members. Our denomination’s reach extends to schools, clinics, and ministries in 70 nations. We support these ministries actively and enthusiastically. As a Reconciling Congregation, we are committed to helping our denomination become more open, affirming, and welcoming. We strive to be pioneers in the church of Jesus Christ.

We present you with opportunities to grow, lead, and serve. We are grateful for your prayers, your participation, and your friendship as we seek to break new ground and reach new heights as part of God’s faithful and bold people.
