Miguel Mairena and Nan McCurdy

In 2005, Foundry entered into a covenant relationship with Miguel Mairena and Nan McCurdy. This mutual relationship calls for the church to participate in the work of the missionary through financial and prayerful support, and for Miguel and Nan to share with Foundry UMC their firsthand experiences of working in God’s mission. Miguel (a native Nicaraguan), has been serving as a missionary with the General Board of Global Ministries (GBGM) in Nicaragua since 1997. Nan has been serving with the people of Nicaragua since 1985. Miguel and Nan work with the Women and Community Association in San Francisco Libre. The Foundry Volunteers in Mission (VIM) team first met the pair while visiting Nicaragua in 2004.

Foundry maintains its covenant relationship with Miguel and Nan through prayers, financial support, and occasional Volunteers in Mission trips. In November 2007, a group of nine Foundry volunteers visited Nicaragua, with the goal of strengthening Foundry’s relationship with Hialeah Methodist Church in Managua and the Women and Community Organization.

For more information about Miguel, Nan, and the work of other GBGM missionaries, please visit the “Find a Missionary” page on the GBGM website.
