If you have been baptized, you’re already a member of the
church. Being part of a particular United Methodist congregation
means placing your name officially on its rolls. Foundry regularly offers
New Member Sessions that provide an orientation to Methodism and to the Foundry community. And if you have not been baptized,
we will be happy to help you arrange it.
In attending Foundry, our hope is that you will be welcomed and
given the feeling that you belong, but not feel pressured to join
a particular mission or help out with a church program. Many persons,
especially those returning to church after a time away, appreciate
the opportunity to “hide in the pews” for a bit. Although
worship is the central focus of life at Foundry, really belonging
to a church means getting involved at some level. Take your time,
see what interests you, and join in when you are ready.

NEW MEMBERS ORIENTATION
Next New Member Orientation is
Sunday, June 8
Foundry's Evangelism Committee offers our New Member Orientation five times a year. The format focuses on engaging the new members in dialogue to hear how their spiritual journey has led them to Foundry, where they'd like to be involved, and what they need from their church community. We are asking people to register for the class so that we can provide enough materials and have a lay mentor present for each new member. Click here for the registration form. You may also pick one up at the front desk.
Orientations are held five times a year usually on a second Sunday of the month. The meeting starts with a free lunch for new members and lay mentors at 12:30 p.m. in the Davenport Center, and we'll end by 4:00 p.m. Joining Sunday is usually scheduled for the following Sunday. Free child care is provided during the orientation.
Do you know someone who has attended Foundry for a while, but isn't a member? You might want to ask them if they'd like to join – and steer them toward attending the New Member Orientation. They don't necessarily have to join the church, only have a willingness to learn more about our church.
We in Evangelism are happy to answer any questions about joining Foundry, and welcome new ideas on how we might reach out to our neighbors and the community around us. And we're always looking for more lay mentors to help with the new members!
