LGBT Advocacy Work

Foundry is working to make the United Methodist Church more inclusive of all people, especially those who identify as LGBT. The Ministry Team is developing strategies leading up to the United Methodist Church General Conference in 2012 where a vote will take place concerning several issues of inclusion.

This section provides resources and information on issues surrounding LGBT identity and gender expression within the United Methodist Church.  You will also learn about Foundry’s efforts and history in this struggle.

Resources for Challenging Study

Foundry is a community that engages with Scripture to learn about how we might be more faithful followers of Jesus. As we journey together through God's Word, we've come across resources that are helpful when thinking about faith and its relationship to our LGBT Advocacy work. Here are links to resources that provide helpful information regarding Scripture and our work:

Matthew Vines on the Bible and Homosexuality

Reconciling Ministries Network Resources

Sexuality and the Christian Body by Eugene F. Rogers
