worship service schedule

9:30 a.m. Sunday Service
11:00 a.m. Sunday Service

Worship is the fundamental focus of church life, serving to deepen our relationship with God in common purpose and dedication to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Foundry offers two Sunday morning worship experiences — both similar in their aims but distinctive in their presentations. Communion is served in the two morning services on the first Sunday in each month.

Both Sunday Services reach out to youngsters with a children's mini-sermon toward the beginning of the service, before the children leave for their Sunday school classes. We then focus on thoughtful preaching, linking the Scriptures to our living Christianity in the world today.

9:30 a.m. Sunday Service
This informal service incorporates music from other cultures, songs from contemporary writers, and indigenous instruments. Lay leadership is a prominent feature of this service.

11:00 a.m. Sunday Service
This service is more traditional and formal, beginning with a procession of ministers, acolytes, and choir members, and featuring sacred music from the Foundry organ and choir.

Baptisms are generally celebrated on the fourth Sunday of each month, at either the 9:30 a.m. or the 11:00 a.m. service.

Special Services
Special services include All Saints Sunday, Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve, Ash Wednesday, Palm/Passion Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter, and Pentecost. At least twice a year, the choir leads services focused on major musical compositions.

Music

Foundry is a singing church, and choral and instrumental music are of central importance to worship — from traditional hymns to classical compositions. To serve the diverse spiritual and musical interests of the Foundry congregation, the two Sunday services offer distinctive musical offerings. The format of each service, the style of music, and the congregational participation varies according to the focus of the day.

Jubalate provides musical leadership at the 9:30 a.m. service. The group performs both a cappella and with piano accompaniment. Jubalate’s goal isn’t solely to perform, but to help others experience God through its music, which ranges across both traditional and modern religious selections. Jubalate rehearses on Monday evenings at 6:45 p.m.

The Foundry Choir sings at the 11:00 a.m. service. There are four soloists-section leaders who provide group voice lessons and give leadership to their sections as well as solo performances as required. The Foundry Choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings at 6:45 p.m. and on Sunday mornings at 10:00 a.m.

The Youth Choir performs at least once a month for both the 9:30 and 11:00 a.m. worship services. Made up of singers ranging from ages 13 to 17, the group also sings at Foundry’s annual Youth Sunday service in May.

The Children’s Choir helps small children appreciate music and learn to sing together in harmony. All children from age 4 through grade 6 are welcome. The Children’s Choir rehearses Sunday mornings from 10:00 to 10:40 a.m. and sings primarily at the 11:00 a.m. service as well as at special worship occasions.
