Welcome

Prayer and service. Spirituality and social justice. Loving God and changing the world.

These things belong together. They define the life of the community of people who make up Foundry Church.

Our worship is spiritual with dynamic music and engagement with Scripture to hear the prophetic call of God to address the injustices of our time. We have three Sunday worship services. At 9:30 a.m. the music is jazzy and gospelly. At 11 a.m. the music can range from classical to gospel. At 5:30 p.m. our band plays everything from Hillsong to U2.

We are children friendly with nursery and Sunday school during both of our morning services. We are a reconciling congregation. Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people are members and leaders within our congregation. We believe in marriage equality. Your children will never hear LGBT people put down in our church.

We have literally dozens of mission opportunities weekly, monthly and throughout the year. One of our goals is to end chronic homelessness in Washington, DC. We have ESL classes, feeding missions, mission trips to Haiti, an annual concert to support AIDS ministries, and much more.

Some people call us progressive, but don't be surprised if there is an altar call or prayer with laying on of hands in our services. We use our intellect and are honest about our doubts but we also listen to our hearts. We study the Bible using the best resources of scholarship but also with a desire to know God. We encourage small group sharing and support.

We are far from perfect but we try to love God and each other. We are trying to change the world.

We invite you to enjoy our website. Sample a sermon. Check out our missions and learning opportunities. Email us your questions. Pay us a visit in person.
