Ways to Serve This Month

People for Fairness Coalition's 9th Annual Homeless Memorial Vigil, Faithful Day of Action with Faith in Action, Supporting our new Afghan Neighbors, Delivering food to Judiciary House, Cooking at Christ House, Hosting Holiday Thyme at Foundry

No one deserves to die on the streets, and we yearn for the day when we will no longer have to hold this yearly event. The People for Fairness Coalition will lead a march from Luther Place Memorial Church to Freedom Plaza, where they will have speakers to commemorate the lives of our neighbors who have died on the streets this year. Join us at 5 p.m.

LEARN MORE ABOUT THE VIGIL
As the Senate deliberates the Build Back Better Act, a pathway to citizenship hangs in the balance in the Senate. This moment requires both faith and action. Please join us for a Faithful Day of Action on Dec. 14 at the Hart Senate Building. Organizers, community members, and faith leaders will come together to conduct a Jericho walk to remind Senators that our futures and our families are on the line and urge them to include a pathway to citizenship in the Build Back Better Act. Join us at 4 p.m.

As Afghan SIV holders and their families arrive in Richmond, Roanoke, and Newport News, Commonwealth Catholic Charities staff are there to welcome them. Responding to the increase of arriving families at Fort Lee, CCC continues to be a leading provider of services for refugee families. Support our new Afghan neighbors during this season of giving by purchasing items on the CCC Amazon Wishlists.

Foundry delivers meals to our neighbors at Judiciary House
On Wednesday, Nov. 24, Foundry Social Justice delivered 180 meals to Judiciary House residents. Judiciary House provides residential public housing for seniors and individuals with disabilities. This partnership has grown from our work organizing with residents through the Washington Interfaith Network (WIN).

SUPPORT FOUNDRY SOCIAL JUSTICE
Christ House is one of the few dedicated medical spaces in the District for unhoused men. Foundry's been working with Christ House for more than 30 years. During the more strict periods of COVID protocols, we had to put meal preparation at Christ House on hold. But now Christ House is ready to receive fully-vaccinated, masked volunteers. Our team would be no more than three volunteers per-session for the near future. If you'd like to help out, join the group or email Pastor Ben.

SIGN UP TO COOK AT CHRIST HOUSE
Our friends at Holiday Thyme have been using the Foundry kitchen to provide training to up-and-coming chefs in the D.C. area. Holiday Thyme is an African American female-led business founded by trained chefs and food enthusiasts. We're excited about the strong overlap in our goals and mission. We thank you all for the gifts you give to make this partnership possible
