Join us for our Fall 2022 Great Day of Service which this year will be a Green Day of Service! We are excited this year to be partnering with Casey Trees, Rock Creek Conservancy and the Potomac Conservancy to help remove invasive plants, plant native ones and clean up the Potomac River! If the outdoors isn't your thing, volunteer to help with the kick-off breakfast at Foundry. Families and friends are encouraged to volunteer together! Click here for more information and to register.

Please join us after our second Sunday service, for a conversation with Reconciling Ministries Network Executive Director Jan Lawrence as she discusses RMNs work and their efforts ahead of upcoming United Methodist jurisdictional gatherings. No registration is required.

sacred resistance
Sacred Resistance Listening Sessions: Sunday, October 30 at 12:45 p.m. and Sunday, November 6 at 10 a.m.
Join us in our Fellowship Hall at one of two listening sessions on the eve of elections and as we continue to re-connect with our neighbors. We’ll hear from community partners who work on issues of homelessness, immigration, creation care, and more. We’ll then take time to connect with each other around our passions for service and advocacy.
Volunteering with Foundry
Volunteers needed: Sustainable Coffee Hour
As part of Foundry's commitment to sustainability and caring for God's creation, Foundry will begin phasing in the use of ceramic/stoneware mugs and silverware instead of disposable products. We are excited to introduce the use of reusable plates soon! We are still in need of coffee hour volunteers to help transport these items to the dishwasher at the end of each coffee hour. Please contact Jackie at jackie@foundryumc.org if you are interested!
Please join fellow Foundry members the first Saturday of every month from 10 a.m. until noon at Christ House! Located at 1717 Columbia Road NW in Adam’s Morgan, Christ House is a 24-hour residential medical facility for un-housed people. If you are interested, contact Chelsey Jones at christhouse@foundryumc.org.
Foundry’s ID Ministry will once again be serving our community on the first and third Saturdays of the month this Fall — and we need volunteers! If you are interested in a very meaningful and life-changing volunteer opportunity, please email  idministry@foundryumc.org.
ESL Night Captain Needed
Our fantastic ESL program is looking for a volunteer on Thursday nights to help welcome and direct students to classes. It is an easy but important role! If interested email esl@foundryumc.org.

The United Methodist Committee On Relief (UMCOR) Early Response Team (ERT) certification training opportunities:

Early Response Teams respond during the first phase of disaster relief, providing Christian presence. Train to be ready to respond and know the first steps to help. Registration fee is $55, which includes training manual. UMCOR ERT badge, T-shirt and background check fee (forms will be handed out at training). Given the recent news of the hurricanes in Puerto Rico and Florida, this training is more important than ever.

The Baltimore-Washington Conference ERT Instructors have planned to offer five trainings spread out across the conference, at different times to help alleviate travel times for participants, in 2022. This year we are offering the following trainings dates and locations for ERT Certifications and Re-Certification Trainings:

Oct 15 at Benevola UMC in Boonsboro, MD
Nov 12 at the Mission Center in Fulton, MD

The Certification course will run from 8am to 4pm on those Saturday dates. Please email Rev. Ben Roberts at broberts@foundryumc.org if interested (scholarships available.)

Are you a runner or walker? We are looking to form a team with Asbury and John Wesley AMEZ to run or walk in SOME’s (So Others Might Eat) Thanksgiving Turkey Trot. It is a fun and healthy way to contribute to SOME’s work and help our community. Please email Jackie Wright at jackie@foundryumc.org if interested!
