Greetings Foundry Members and Friends,

Last month, Pastor Ginger announced that Rev. Will Ed Green, Foundry’s Associate Pastor and Director of Discipleship, has accepted the pastoral appointment from Bishop LaTrelle Easterling to serve as the lead pastor at Silver Spring UMC effective July 1, 2022.

The announcement, befitting the Spring season, revealed a new pathway for Pastor Will and God’s faithfulness, wisdom, and favor on him and the congregation that awaits his arrival.

We at Foundry have been immeasurably blessed by Pastor Will Ed’s contributions to our faith community. He created numerous study opportunities, designed unique worship experiences for spiritual and community connection — especially during the Covid pandemic shutdown, and being a true servant leader, he developed many internal and external relational groups to respond to people’s need for belonging and sharing common experiences. He pursued every endeavor, whether virtual or in-person, with purpose and passion.

Accordingly, we want to celebrate Pastor Will Ed’s remarkable gifts and contributions to Foundry over the last six years and wish him well as he embarks on building the Kin-dom at Silver Spring UMC.

To that end, we are planning two communal send offs for him on Sunday, June 12 immediately following both the 9 a.m. and the 11:15 a.m. worship services. June 12 will be Pastor Will’s last Sunday with us. Please join us for a fellowship opportunity that will include plenty of good wishes and good food.

Stay tuned for further information about the exact location of the celebrations, to be held either in the Community Commons or on the Foundry Plaza.

In addition to the celebrations, we are collecting a “love offering" to show our appreciation for Pastor Will Ed as he transitions to the church parsonage at Silver Spring UMC. Contributions may be made at foundryumc.org/love-offering from May 1 through June 19.

We are eternally grateful that God has continued to bless us with gifted pastoral leaders who leave a legacy of service and inspiration. For additional information about the June 12 celebration, please contact Ann Brown Birkel at annbrownuva@gmail.com or Matt Hansen at hansen.matthewj@gmail.com.

We pray God’s blessings on Foundry and Pastor Will Ed as we continue on this spiritual journey.

Easter blessings,

Foundry Lay Leadership
