I.D. & Walk-in Ministry
Imago Dei & Walk-in Ministry
Imago Dei is Latin for image of God. We believe all persons are created in God’s image, the imago dei, it is part of our common identity. Within our society we have systems that often distort and devalue the identities of our neighbors. One of those systems is the need to carry identification documents. Foundry’s I.D. & Walk-in Ministry seeks to restore to our low-income and homelessness neighbors the documents they need to obtain jobs, housing, education, or services in the community.
Each Friday and the 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month, Foundry’s I.D. & Walk-in Ministry opens to the community from 9:00 am – 12:00 noon to provide assistance in obtaining birth certificates, District of Columbia non-driver’s identification cards. With the generous support of the Foundry congregation, the I.D Ministry has 36 apointment spaces available each Friday and 1st and 3rd Saturdays for identification documents. In addition, the Walk-in ministry for clothes and a snack lunch is each Friday morning. There are 25 spaces available through walk-in for clothing items (first come first served). Each guest is welcome to a small snack lunch.
You must be a social service agency representative in order to register for an appointment through our website. If you are a social services agency seeking to refer a client to our I.D. Ministry for identification assistance, please contact the Director of Social Justice Ministries Ben Roberts via email and provide your organization's name, email contact, and address.

Please Note that Appointments are only made available one week in advance of the actual date. If the week you are looking for is not visible, it is either because we are closed on that day or because the week is more than two weeks in advance.
In the event of adverse weather conditions, the Foundry Friday Mission follows the schedule of the Federal government. If Federal agencies are closed, the Friday Mission will close as well. Appointments affected by the cancellation will have to be rescheduled through the social service agency through which they were originally made.
