This January, Foundry is offering another way to consider connection with God and with one another: a congregation-wide, integrated exploration of what it means to be a disciple of Jesus within a Wesleyan (United Methodist) context. Your clergy team is asking everyone at Foundry to participate as fully as possible in this shared experience. We will engage the journey in two primary ways: a study entitled A Disciple’s Path and our “Life Speaks” sermon series.
A Disciple’s Path offers an opportunity to learn about time-tested spiritual disciplines that help deepen our relationship with God: prayers, presence, gifts, service and witness. Practice of these disciplines is among our vows when we enter covenant relationship with the church. Each week of A Disciple’s Path focuses on one discipline and, as we journey through the course, sermons will correspond with the spiritual practice for that week. The culmination of this congregational study will be a covenant renewal service in both worship services on February 26th.
An introductory session, including an overview of our United Methodist heritage and description of the class, will be offered on Sunday, January 15th at 10:10 and 12:45. Three sections of the six-week course will be offered, two on Sundays and one midweek:
Sundays: January 22—February 26 (10:10-11:05am, 12:45-2pm)
Wednesdays: January 18—February 22 (6:45-8pm)
Pastors Ginger and Will will facilitate our our Sunday morning sessions, while George and Zoey Kernodle will facilitate the Wednesday course. Childcare will be available for all classes. Required books for the course are available for purchase for $18 from the Welcome Desk in the main-level Fellowship Hall during regular church business hours (Mon-Thurs. 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM, Fri. 9:00 AM-5:00 PM, Sat. 9:00AM- 12 noon, Sunday 8:30 AM-1:30 PM).
