Ed Crump

Ed Crump serves as Foundry's Director of Connection and Care, where he helps cultivate a church community rooted in belonging, compassion, and faithful care. His ministry includes connecting people into the life of the church through service, classes, studies, small groups, hospitality, and new member engagement, while also coordinating pastoral care, volunteer care ministries, prayer ministries, and opportunities for the congregation to care for one another.

Ed earned his Master of Divinity from Wesley Theological Seminary in May 2026 after beginning his theological studies in 2020 in response to a call to a second-career in ministry in retirement. During the 2025–2026 academic year, he served as a pastoral intern at Foundry, where he discerned a deeper calling to ministry centered on connection, care, and spiritual formation. He joined the Foundry staff as Director of Connection and Care in June 2026.

A native Washingtonian and graduate of Walt Whitman High School in Bethesda, Ed earned a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Penn State University and an MBA from Virginia Tech. Before entering ministry, he spent more than thirty years in federal service as an engineer, project manager, and program manager, leading major technology initiatives across the Departments of Defense, Commerce, and the Interior. He retired from the Department of the Interior after spending twenty-one years there in Information Technology.

Before seminary, Ed served for many years in youth ministry, volunteered with Foundry's ID Ministry, and taught adult Bible studies and classes. He remains passionate about Scripture, spiritual formation, contemplative spirituality, pastoral care, recovery ministry, and social justice. He is especially committed to helping people experience the love of Christ through authentic relationships and a caring Christian community.

Ed is also an active participant in the 12-Step recovery community and is deeply grateful for the ways recovery has shaped his faith, calling, and ministry.

Ed and his husband, Todd, live in Reston, Virginia, and have two wonderful adult children, Matt (living in Richmond and recently married to his wife, Grace) and Ellie (living in Mobile, AL with her partner, Jade).
